Faye Chitwood Higgins, age 92, of Cornelia, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2021.
Mrs. Higgins was born on April 4, 1929 in Banks County, Georgia to the late Wiley and Icie Watkins Chitwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Frank "Buddy" Higgins; daughters, Charlotte Higgins; Norma Jean Higgins; son, Phil Higgins; grandchildren, Kenny Higgins, Darrell Higgins, Angie Gibby; and she was the last of her immediate family. Mrs. Higgins was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church. Faye loved to tend to her flower gardens and vegetable gardens. She also enjoyed word search puzzles. Music was a very important part of Faye's life; she was instrumental in teaching her husband and children music and passing that down to the next generation of her family. She was known as "Granny" to not only her grandchildren, but most everyone that knew her.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Elaine Higgins, of Cornelia; daughters, Marilyn Foster, of Cornelia; Ginger Gunn, of Cornelia; Phyllis Rasnick, of Cornelia; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Kevin Shelnut, of Cleveland; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews; and sister-in-love (very dear friend), Dorothy "Dot" Higgins, of Alto.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 22, 2021 at the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel with Rev. Danny O'Kelley and Rev. Devin O'Kelley officiating. Interment will follow in Baldwin City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, October 21, 2021 at the funeral home.
