Clyde W. Messer

Obituary Date: Monday, October 18, 2021

Clyde W. Messer, age 78, passed away on Monday, Oct. 18, 2021.

Clyde was born in Alabama where he grew up to meet his lifelong love, Shirley Messer. They were married in 1963 just after he joined to serve in the Army National Guard in 1962. Clyde and Shirley resided in Alabama until 1979 after a job transfer to Gainesville, GA with Golden Flake Quality Foods. After many faithful years leading to retiring with Golden Flake, he took on a route with Little Debbie delivering snack cakes alongside his family in the North Georgia area. Everyone Clyde met out on the route quickly became a friend with his infectious smile and warm kindness that you couldn’t help but be drawn to.

Clyde’s favorite things to do were to spend time with his wife and family, listen to classic gospel records and gift them to friends, spend time with his dog, Tucker, and reminisce down memory lane through all the amazing times in his life working with Golden Flake, Little Debbie and serving in the National Guard. He also loved spending time working on his home he and his wife built on Lake Lanier many years ago and going on a boat ride every now and then.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Charles Levi Sr. and Thelma Rebecca Lee Messer; his brother’s, Cecil, Carlton, Charles and Curtis Messer; and his sister, Margarette S.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley Messer; his son, Kyle Messer; his 2 grandchildren and their spouses, Andrew Messer and Danielle Messer, Courtney and Michael Ledford; his great grandchild, Avery Ledford; and his sister, Mary Holder.

There will be no service conducted at this time.
