Mrs. Nellie Mae Collins, age 93, of Dahlonega passed away Monday, October 18, 2021.
Mrs. Collins was a native and lifelong resident of Lumpkin County. She was born on March 31, 1928, to the late Henry and Ella Seabolt Grizzle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband the Rev. Clyde Collins; sisters Lena Fortner, and Maude Grizzle; brother Rev. Duffy Grizzle; son-in-law Richard Brown; and great-grandson Chase Garrett. Mrs. Collins was a beloved mother and “Granny” to her family. She was best known for keeping everyone in line and telling them what to do. Mrs. Collin’s family knew they were deeply loved by her and the way she often showed it was cooking a great meal or sewing an outfit for them. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas and shopping was her great joy. Mrs. Collins was a member of Salem Baptist Church.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Maebelle and George Duff, and Shirley and David Key; daughter Joyce Brown; sister Mae Lee; grandchildren Richie Brown, and Crystal Brown; great-grandchildren Cody, Chandler, and Morgan; great-great-grandchildren Bentley, Callie, and Ava; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 20, 2021, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Dennis Fortner and the Rev. Lyman Caldwell will officiate. Interment will follow in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
