Elena J. Belansky

Elena J. Belansky, age 83, of Sugar Hill, GA passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2021. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Peter Belansky; daughter, Donna Eberhardt; son-in-law, Bud Eberhardt; grandchildren Eric Eberhardt, Jessie Eberhardt, Brian Eberhardt; granddaughter-in-law Katie Bagwell Eberhardt; great-grandchildren Emerson Eberhardt, Brooks Eberhardt and grand niece Katie Eberhardt.  Elena was a loving mother, wife and grandmother who relished cooking Slavic dishes to the delight of her family and friends. She played the piano and taught all her grandchildren to play. Elena loved to travel and meet people from all over the world and she was a talented ballroom dancer. If you were lucky enough to know her, your life was enriched with laughter, encouragement and genuine friendship. She will be greatly missed.

Elena was born on March 11, 1938 in Viglas, Slovakia. She held a master’s degree in languages and spoke five languages. Elena taught Russian and German at Case Western Reserve University, in Ohio and had a 27 year career at the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 am on Friday, October 22, 2021 at Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA followed by a Celebration of Life in the chapel at 11:00 a.m.
