Betty Slaton Waldrop, 90, of Gainesville passed away Wednesday, October 13, 2021at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Betty was born in Dawson County on August 18, 1931 to James Milton and Minnie Martin Slaton. She graduated from Dawson County High School and entered a work-training program at Downey Hospital in Gainesville, Georgia. She continued to work in the medical field until her 1983 retirement from the office of local surgeons. She was of the Baptist faith, and a member of the New Holland Baptist Church. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, O.T. Buffington and Robert (Bob) Waldrop; sisters, Lillian S. Taylor, Geraldine S. Conner; and brother, J W Slaton.
Surviving are her nieces, Peggy T. Hulsey, Janet S. Fuller, Charlotte Wood, and Betty Conner; nephews, Jerry, Ronny, Ricky, Johnny, and Mark Conner; special great niece and caregiver, Melissa H. Sheriff; great nieces and nephews and friends also survive.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Rev. Cory Gilleland will officiate.
