Edward Gorman, 87, went home to be with his Heavenly Father on October 13, 2021. After a successful career in the US Army, he was employed by Folger Poultry and later with Folger Gas Company. Edward was a member of Tickanetley Primitive Baptist Church in Ellijay where he served as a Deacon for many years. He loved all of his brothers and sisters at Tickanetley and missed them very much when he was no longer able to make the long drive to Ellijay.
Edward loved serving his country in the Army and received several medals and commendations during his service time of 21 years. He served in Korea and did 2 tours in Viet Nam where he received an Army Commendation Medal for heroism, a Bronze Star, and a CIB.
He was preceded in death by his wife Alphine, infant daughter Tina, grandson Sebron Jr. Dale, and son-in-law Sebron Dale. Edward leaves behind five daughters: Kathi Dale (NC), Arlene (George) Thurman (Dahlonega), Connie (Tinker) Head (Dahlonega), Betty (Preston) Jones (AL), and Karen (Steve) Sutherland (Dahlonega). In addition to his daughters and sons-in-law, he also leaves behind 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He loved his family greatly. He never met a stranger and enjoyed visiting with anyone he met. A graveside memorial service at Dahlonega Memorial Park will be held on Monday, October 18, 2021 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Northeast GA Hospice in honor of Edward Gorman.
