Opal Reece, 94, of Alpharetta passed away Thursday October 14, 2021 following a period of declining health.
Born August 27, 1927 and originally from Dawsonville, Opal had been a resident of Alpharetta since 1966. She graduated high school at the age of 15 and taught at the New Hope School in Dawsonville from 1944-1945, until marrying her beloved husband James in 1946. Opal was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Dawsonville and worked for many years for the Internal Revenue Service until her retirement. She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Reece; son, Don Reece; parents, Daniel and Eula Fowler; brother, Kermit Fowler; sister, Ruenell Whelchel.
Surviving are her daughter, Charlotte Reece, Alpharetta; brothers and siter in law, Lloyd and Pennie Fowler, Dawsonville, Edwin Fowler, Dahlonega; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held Monday, October 18, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Jason Hamby and Pastor Dean Ropp will officiate.
