Ronnie E. “Gene” Carnes, 67, of Dawsonville passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at his residence following a long battle with cancer.
Born January 6, 1954, Gene was originally from Cumming and had been a resident of Dawsonville for the past 30 years. He was a member of High Shoals Baptist Church and enjoyed visiting churches and serving the Lord alongside his wife. For over 15 years he worked in maintenance for Forsyth County and in his free time he enjoyed classic cars, camping, and boating. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Allison Carnes, and brothers, Gerald Carnes and Hugh Carnes.
Surviving are his wife of 30 years Annette Gaddis Quarles Carnes of Dawsonville; sons, Rocky Carnes of Ohio, Michael (Jenifer) Carnes of Dawsonville; step-son, Timmy (Trassa) Quarles of Dawsonville; grandchildren, Luke and Clay Carnes, Bretney and Clarissa Quarles; sisters, Barbara Reagin of Dahlonga, Loyce Hicks of Dahlonega; sisters-in-law, Judy Carnes of Cleveland, Dianne Carnes of Cumming; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 15, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Carroll Pruitt, Rev. Barry Payne, Rev. Cecil Reeves and Rev. Jack Biddy will officiate. Interment will follow in High Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday October 14 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
