Three doves visited her each morning at her home for the last few months. Sometimes they’d sing and other times they would sit quietly watching her as she watched them. Birds are free, and so is Millie Rose Miller. Born on December 31, 1951 in Gainesville Georgia, Millie lived a life rich with service, educating children, supporting those in addiction recovery, and most of all devotion and unconditional love for her family and God. “Do you want to be a worrier or a warrior?” she would often say. Millie was a faithful prayer warrior, Shofar blower, and intercessor who prayed with and stood in the gap for countless individuals during challenging times. She was always “in the word.” She rose up each morning with a psalm of gratitude in her heart and laid down each evening on a blanket of scripture. On October 9, 2021 Millie laid down for her final time. Then spread her wings, and “took” to the sky much like the doves who’d been visiting her. Those who have gone before her and some of the Ancestors welcoming her include: Her grandparents Herbert and Rose Williams, Millie and Crawford Norman, her parents Nathanial and Annie Mae Norman and her sister Louise Norman Rousey. She is survived by her husband, James Miller, four children Ebony Reynolds and Octavia Raheem, Mario Reynolds and Jemar Raheem, her “pride and joy” three grandchildren, Kamyrn Reynolds, Ariana Reynolds, and Oyetunde Raheem, siblings Marjorie Norman, Nathan Ann Norman, Joe Norman, Gloria Goss, Ozie Norman, a deep circle of (great and grand) nieces, nephews, friends, and spiritual daughters who she cared for and loved. Doves signify hope, new life, and beginnings. Three doves visited Millie each morning at her home for the last few months. She’d watch them and they’d watch her. And now, they are flying together toward a new beginning, beyond this space and time. Birds are free, and so is Millie Rose.
