Winston R. Burel

Winston R. Burel, age 94, of Buford, GA, passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Doris Martin Burel, second wife, Kathleen Pugh Burel, parents, Alvin and Eva Burel, grandson, Steve Burel, and son-in-law Danny Austin.  Mr. Burel is survived by his son Ronnie Burel (Bonita Pass Burel, of Buford, GA; daughter Judy Burel Austin of Winder, GA; grandchildren, Julie Carlton of Buford, GA, Kim Hunter of Winder, GA and Kelly Macaw of Winder, GA; sevem great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Burel White of Muncy, PA; nephews, Steve White (Marsha) of White, TX, Lee White (Annie) of White, Texas; several cousins.  Mr. Burel was born on October 22, 1926 in Buford, GA.  He graduated from Sugar Hill High School and served in the Merchant Marines during WWII.  Mr. Burel retired from General Motors Assembly Plant after 37 years.  He was a member of UAW Local 10 and served on the Zoning Board of Appeals for 28 years.  Mr. Burel was a member of West Buford Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 55 years and was a member of the Senior Adult Sunday School class.  A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021, in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Bennett and Rev. Jerry McCormick, officiating.  Interment will be at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, GA.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Flanigan Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Eagle Ranch, 5500 Union Church Rd, Flowery Branch, GA 30542 or West Buford Baptist Church Building Fund, 6611 Blue Cove Dr., Flowery Branch, GA  30542,  in memory of Winston Burel.
