J. Carter Butterworth

J. Carter Butterworth, age 93, passed away on October 9, 2021, at The Oaks at Limestone in Gainesville, Ga.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 11, 2021 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Marshall Dale will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Monday, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m.

Mr. Butterworth was born February 22, 1928 to Fletcher Butterworth and Ferol Carter Butterworth in Gainesville, Ga. He worked as a serviceman in the poultry industry and was an avid sportsman raising beagles and participating in field trials for over 60 years. He was devoted to his family and enjoyed old fashion Country and Southern Gospel music.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elliece Roper Butterworth and his second wife, Gwendolyn Buffington Ferguson, brothers, Norman and Richard Butterworth.

Survivors include daughters, Vicki Savage and Carol (David) Purcell; grandchildren, Justin (Sherry) Savage, Andrew Savage, Kathryn Purcell, and Lauren Purcell; great grandchildren, Jackson and Emily Savage; sister, Robbie Pruett.
