Carole Head, age 79 of Stone Mountain, passed on to her heavenly home on Sunday morning, October 3, 2021 surrounded by her family.
Carole was born on September 25, 1942 in Gainesville, GA and grew up in the Chicopee Village. She graduated from South Hall High School in 1960. She married her high school sweetheart, Bill Head on October 1st, 1960. They had just celebrated their 61st Anniversary 2 days prior to her passing. Over their 61 years of marriage, Carole and Bill enjoyed camping, water skiing, taking cruises, touring the country on their Harley Davidson and spending time with friends and family. Carole was an excellent cook, gardener, talented artist and loved to sing. Most of all she loved her family. Carole worked alongside Bill and was instrumental in building the Bill Head Funeral Homes and Crematory business. She was affectionately known as “Miss Carole”.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Leco and Floy Young, sisters Margaret McLendon, Freida Jones and son-in-law, Keith Byers.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Head, daughter, Andrea Byers, son Marcus Head and wife Angela, grandson Jesse Byers and his Fiance Katie Bassett, and granddaughter Emily Byers.
The Family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 5th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Tucker Chapel of the Bill Head Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 6th at 11:00am at Lilburn First Baptist Church, with Dr. Frank Cox and Father Christopher Monturo officiating. Burial will follow in the Duluth Church Cemetery.
