Joan C. Johnson Krask

Obituary Date: Friday, September 17, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan C. Johnson Krask of Dawsonville, GA, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend. Joan died peacefully in her home at age 80 on 17 Sep 2021 after a courageous 10-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Joan Carol Jascott was born in Trenton, New Jersey on August 9th, 1941, the only child of John Milton “Larry” and Stella Metz Jascott. She spent her youth in the Trenton/Mercerville, New Jersey area, graduating from Hamilton East Steinert High School in 1959. She spent her early adult life in New Jersey where she had her three children, Jon, Tom, and Suzanne. The young family moved to Stone Mountain, GA in April 1971, and after spending two years in Wayzata, MN from mid-1974 to the Fall of 1976, the family re-settled in Stone Mountain, GA. In the years that followed, Joan became a Radiation Therapist, an occupation she performed in numerous hospitals along the east coast for over 30 years. She met her husband and love of her life, Ken Krask, on November 1st, 1986; they were married on June 6th, 1991, and just recently celebrated their 30th anniversary. They lived many years in Suwanee, GA and have been active members of the Crooked Tree development in Dawsonville, GA since 2006.

Joan loved Italian food, travel, needlework and sewing, her bridge club and books of numerous interests. She was the Treasurer-Secretary of her Homeowners Association for over a decade and was a many decades’ member of the Beta Sigma Phi women’s sorority. Over the years, she served in many Beta Sigma Phi roles, most recently as Vice-President, and leader of the membership and scrapbook committees, the latter of which the chapter won the annual international award for many years in a row. Joan would have celebrated her 50th anniversary as a member of the Beta Sigma Phi sorority in February 2022.

Joan C. Johnson Krask is survived by her husband Kenneth Anthony Krask, and a large combined family of six children and their spouses: Jon Raymond Thibodeau and his wife Carol Eldridge Thibodeau, Thomas James Thibodeau and his wife Maureen Glenn Thibodeau, Suzanne Marie Thibodeau Le Blanc and her husband Tony Le Blanc, Stephen Kendall Krask and his wife Melissa Puckett Krask, Laura Ann Krask Graff and her husband James Graff, Scott Robert Krask and his wife Elizabeth (Beth) Lang Krask; and 14 grandchildren, their spouses, and four great-grandchildren: Rachel Jennifer Thibodeau Dart, her husband Jacob Dart and their daughter Amelia Grace Dart; Matthew Hunter Burke, Michelle Nicole Thibodeau; Tyler Glenn Thibodeau, Marc Raymond Thibodeau, Payden Anthony LeBlanc, Keith Joseph Le Blanc, Ashley Nicole Le Blanc, Robert Kendall Krask, his wife Lindsay Spear Krask and their daughter Ella Macauley Krask; Drew Elizabeth (Libby) Krask Schmidt, her husband John Schmidt and their children Gabriel Beecher Schmidt and Valentine Stephen Schmidt; Clayton James Graff, Claire Elise Graff, Aaron Christopher Krask and his wife Allison Hardman Krask; Lindsey Michelle Krask and her fiancé Roberto Duarte.

Family and friends can pay respects and celebrate Joan C. Johnson Krask’s life at her funeral Mass on Monday, October 4th, 2021, at 1100 at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church, 991 Kilough Church Road in Dawsonville, GA. A reception with light refreshments will follow in the Parish Hall. There will also be a future Celebration of Life with details to be announced at a later time.
