Tommie Joe Rice, 73, of Lula, GA died September 14, 2021.
Tommie was born December 18, 1947 in Hampton, Arkansas (Marion Co.) to the late Garland Francis and Alta Etta (Marshall) Rice.
Tommie is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sherlene (Tinsley) Rice, and four daughters; Jodi Gretchen(Jeremy)Person, Kileen, TX, Beth Ann Wiedenheft (Brad Larson) of Chapel Hill, NC, Jessica (Gustavo)
Sacasa, Lula, GA, and Megan (David) Bennett of Cornelia, GA. His grandchildren include Cody Person,Kortney Person-Thibodeaux, Tyler Person, Emma Rice, Caleb Bennett, Oliver Sacasa, and Juniper Larson,great grandchild Paisley Person, and former son-in-law Kris Wiedenheft. Surviving siblings include brothers Ernest, Paul, and Rex, and sisters Evelyn, Judy, Nancy, and Patsy, as well as numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Tommie was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ira (Ari), Ronnie, Frank, Everett, and sister Etta Marie.
Tommie loved catfish with hushpuppies, figuring out how to build almost anything from wood, lakes, a good place to sit outside, good action films, not so good action films, fishing, biscuits and gravy, lazy
days spent with his family, and Arkansas Razorback football.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in the Anderson Flat Cemetery, St. Joe, Arkansas. In honor of Tommie’s memory, the family requests that you do as he would: take a child fishing, teach
a teen to drive, spend an afternoon on the porch with your family, or simply share a few moments of friendly conversation with someone you hadn’t met before.
