Geraldine Rebecca McElhannon Hart

Geraldine Rebecca McElhannon Hart, age 78, of Cornelia, passed away on Friday, September 17, 2021. 

Born in Athens, on November 23, 1942, she was a daughter of the late John Henry and Minnie Bell Stephens McElhannon. Mrs. Hart was formerly employed with Alto Grocery as night manager for over 12 years. She was a member of Cornelia Congregational Holiness Church and taught Children’s Church for over 40 years. Mrs. Hart enjoyed reading the Bible, cross stitching, needle point stitching, cooking, and crafts in her spare time. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hart was also preceded in death by sons, Jeffrey Eugene Hart and Kenneth Kevin Hart; brother, Carlton Jackson McElhannon; and sisters, Sarah Frances Davis and Barbara Ann McCoy. 

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Hart of Cornelia; daughters, Tamari Hill (Bradley) of Baldwin and Stephanie Herring (Kim Nix) of Danielsville; daughter-in-law, Janet Hart of Watkinsville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 pm on Tuesday, September 21, 2021, in the Chapel of McGahee-Griffin & Stewart with Kevin Hart and Rev. Terry Benfield officiating. Interment will follow in Level Grove Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Monday, September 20, 2021, at the funeral home.
