Mae Estelle Lee

Mrs. Mae Estelle Lee, 94, of Gainesville, passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville campus following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Darryl Womack and Rev. Leon Thompson will officiate. Interment will follow in Alta Vista Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Tuesday from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.

Born on September 7, 1927 in Clermont, she was the daughter of the late Edward “Ed” Popham and the late India Edge Popham. She was retired from Chicopee Mills where she worked in the card room. Mrs. Lee was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Lee is preceded in death by her husband. Robert E. Lee and daughter, Sybil Melissa Lee.

Mrs. Lee is survived by her sons, Larry David Lee of Gainesville, Johnny Mack Lee of Athens, Stevie Dwayne Lee (Shelley) of Gillsville, Eddie Franklin Lee of Gainesville, Danny Lee (Tammy) of Gainesville, Doug Lee (Karen) of Oakwood; daughters, Glenda Gale Allison of Homer, Karen Lee of Gainesville; 21 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
