Mrs. Christine Blanche Mooney, 87, of Oakwood, passed away peacefully at the Bell Minor Home on Friday, September 17, 2021 following an extended illness.
Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, September 20, 2021 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Joey Yeary and Mark Stroud will officiate.
Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Born on June 29, 1934 in Rainbow Springs, NC, she was the daughter of the late Larie Williams and the late Mary Jane Martin Williams. Mrs. Mooney worked all of her life serving the public. She worked in the food industry for many years at the Imperial Restaurant and Western Sizzlin Steak House. In 1982 she began a career at Lowe’s Home Improvement, where she was the Garden Manager and retired from there in 1998. She was a member of Throne of Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mooney is preceded in death by her husband, Virgil Mooney, step son, Ray Mooney and brother, Carl Williams.
Mrs. Mooney is survived by her son and daughter in law, Danny and Leilani Effler of Bryson City, NC; daughter and son in law, Dana and Joey Yeary of Flowery Branch; step daughter, Joan Monfort of Gainesville; grandchildren, Amy Effler of Bryson City, NC; Matt (Amber) Yeary of Flowery Branch, Marie (Josh) Cochran of Cleveland, Michaela (Jonah) Cain of Murrayville; great grandchildren, Danielle Demonbreun, Nathan Cochran, Aubrey Yeary, Brayden Yeary, Emma Yeary; sisters, Ethel Mauldin of Gainesville, Linda Copeland (Gordon) of Dahlonega, Margaret Harkins (Ronnie) of Gainesville; brother, Michael Williams, (Mary Jo) of Lenoir, NC and a number of nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
