Mr. Rickey Edward Tumlin, 72, of Clermont, passed away Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville Campus.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, 2021 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Allen Passmore will officiate. Interment will follow in Chestnut Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
Born on November 18, 1948 in Gainesville, he was the son of the late Edward Gerome and Edith Gailey Tumlin. Mr. Tumlin began working for the Hall County Sheriff’s Office in June of 1972 with this job he began his training and studied Law Enforcement Basic Mandate Training at Georgia State Police Academy; he studied Criminal Justice/Public Administration at Brenau University. Mr. Tumlin retired from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office at the rank of Corporal/ Court Services in 2004.
After retirement, he was still a very active person. He was owner of Civil Process Servers of Northeast Georgia; a tax preparer at H&R Block; and wrote a book, Fi-Fa’s, Levy’s and The Collection of Judgments in Georgia.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Tumlin is preceded in death by his wife, Florence Turk Tumlin and sister, Patsy Jean Tumlin and brother in law, Lee Kidd.
Mr. Tumlin is survived by his brother and sister in law, Ronald and Irene Tumlin; sister, Paula Kidd; niece, Kristy Tumlin; nephew, Kevin Tumlin (Karen); niece, Theresa Smith; nephew, Lewis Tumlin (Renee), nieces, Katrena Peck (Jason), Tara Aulet (Robert) a number of great nieces and great nephews and best friend, Frank Lathrop (Anna).
Rickey will be remembered as a person who was honored and proud to serve the citizens of Hall County.
