Charles Scott Carter

Charles “Charlie” Scott Carter, 63 of Metter, GA passed away on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at his residence.  He was born in Decatur, GA to the late Harold and Charlet Carter.  He was a member of Parkwood Hills Baptist Church, Decatur, GA.  Charlie had a love for planes and flying and was an avid ultralight pilot.  You could see him many days buzzing the treetops around Lake Lanier and Dawson County.  He loved to hunt, fish and camp.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. 

He is also preceded in death by his brother, Anthony Carter; father in law and mother in law, Clayton and Mazelle Holbrook; sister in law, Charlotte Moore.

He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Elaine Carter of Metter, GA; daughter and son in law, Cassie and Casey Burkhalter of Claxton, GA; stepson, Lloyd and Denise Chester of Dawsonville, GA; grandchildren, Brooks, Luke, Cheyenne, Joseph; sisters, Angela and Greg Crubley of Oxford, GA, Diane Carter of Covington, GA; brother in law and sister in law, Jimmy and Shelia Holbrook of Dawsonville, GA; brother in law, Bill Moore of Alpharetta, GA. 

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at the Bearden Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Dennis Bottoms officiating. 

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
