Jean Carswell Scott

Mrs. Jean Carswell Scott, age 89, of Falls Road, Toccoa passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the Over Look Senior Living. The daughter of the late Charles Hadden and Margaret Ellard Carswell, she was born April 15, 1932 in Pickens, South Carolina and lived all of her life in Stephens County. Jean was a dedicated mother and wife first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Granny. She was a faithful member of Toccoa Creek Baptist Church where she served in many ways. She was a G.A. and Acteen leader, member of the choir and also worked in the nursery as well as Vacation Bible School. Throughout the years, she was on the Bereavement Committee and served as W.M.U. director. In addition, she spent a lot of time assisting with Hope for the Hungry. Some of her favorite hobbies were quilting, gardening, and making homemade jelly. She preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Scott; daughters; Judy Howard and Cheryl Dunson; sisters, Carol Hayes, Joan Scott, and Betty Kelley and Sarah Dodd; brothers, Charles and Robert Carswell.

Survivors include four sons and daughter in laws, Bobby and Judy Scott of Flowery Branch, Georgia, Kenny and Daune Scott, Doug and Elizabeth Scott, and Brian Scott all of Toccoa, grandchildren; Robin and Mike Ryan, Kevin and Sarah Scott, Tara Busby, Kimberly and David Landis, Jeana and Joel Strickland, Julie Smith, Ashley Dunson, Trey Dunson, Ben and Alana Dunson, and Jarrett Scott; great grandchildren; McKenzie, Michael, and Jack Ryan, Keri and Katie Scott, Kadie, Luke, and Jacqeline Landis, Madison, Noah, and Melissa Strickland, Blaire Saylors, Gracie Dunson, Aliyah, Bentley, and Caden Dunson.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon, 2 0’clock, at the Toccoa Creek Baptist church with the Reverend Joey Whitlock and officiating. The family will be at the respective homes and receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from 3 to 5 P.M. and Sunday noon until 1:30. The following will serve as pallbearers: Kevin Scott, Jarrett Scott, Ben Dunson, Trey Dunson, David Landis and Joel Strickland.

The family would like to express a special thanks to the entire staff with Amedisys Hospice, Overlook of Toccoa, and special care-givers Daune Scott, Renita Powell, Debbie McCall, Debra Kay Chastain, Amy Rider, Carolyn Wilson, and Lisa Perry for their enduring wonderful care.

Interment will follow in Stephens Memorial Gardens
