Melody Joy Samples

Melody Joy Samples, age 51, of Clarkesville, Georgia went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 4, 2021.

Born in Kingsport, Tennessee on October 3, 1969, Melody was the daughter of Don and Ramona Anderson Samples.  She was a 1987 graduate of Metro Baptist High School and a 1991 graduate of Pensacola Christian College.  Melody was employed with South State Bank in the legal department.  She was a very smart and competent woman and was very detail oriented.  She was a woman of devout faith and always worked alongside her parents in ministry.   Melody enjoyed crocheting, cross stitching and reading.  She was a member of Hollywood Baptist Church where she had long served in the Children’s Ministry.

Survivors include her parents Dr. Don and Ramona Samples of Clarkesville, brother and sister in law Mark and Cindy Samples of Shelby Township, Michigan, sister and brother in law Melissa and Gregory Capps of Cornelia, sister Melinda Samples of Arlington, Texas, nephew Michael Capps, nieces Lillia Capps and Daphne Capps all of Cornelia, several aunts, uncles and cousins, her best friend Pam Clarke of Lilburn as well as all of the children at Hollywood Baptist Church who called her “Aunt Mel”.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 10, 2021 at Hollywood Baptist Church.  Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, September 9, 2021 from 5-8 PM.

In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in memory of Melody to Hollywood Baptist Church Children's Ministry, 208 Hollywood Church Road, Clarkesville, GA 30523.
