Florence Lillian Haug Fisher

Obituary Date: Thursday, October 14, 2021

On September 4, 2021, the family of Florence Lillian Haug Fisher gathered together at her bed and watched as she moved into her final home, her mansion prepared by Jesus. Three weeks earlier, they had celebrated her 94th birthday. She was born August 13, 1927 in Parma, Ohio to Leopold and Emma Haug. Florence had lived in Gainesville for the past 30 years.

Florence’s life overflowed with love, both for and from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. Her infectious smile brought joy to everyone she met, as evidenced by comments on her children’s Facebook pages. Many memories were shared, and it appears that she was “mom” to more than just the six kids she physically brought into the world. She was absolutely the rock of her family, as each of her kids will attest.

In addition to her parents, Florence is preceded in death by her daughter, Ina Rae Anderson; brother, Ellis “Sonny” Haug; and sister, Ruth Knepper.

She is survived by daughter Jackie (Chris) Denney; son Dale (Becki) Fisher; son Scott (Gail) Fisher; daughter Donna Fisher; son Gary (Rebecca) Fisher; grandsons Bret Anderson; Blake (Aimee) Anderson; Brian Denney; Michael (Mary Claire) Denney; Blaine Fisher; Gage Fisher; granddaughter Stacey (Chad) Hudson; eight great-grandsons, seven great-granddaughters, and one more surprise to be born in March. Although she won’t be able to physically hold that one, she was aware and excited at the news.

1 Thessalonians 4:13-14

“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with him those who have died.”

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Memorial Park North Riverside Chapel with a reception to follow at the Sydney Lanier Room of the Civic Center from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations in Florence’s memory to the Northeast Georgia Humane Society, 845 W Ridge Rd, Gainesville GA 30501.
