David Orr Posten

David Orr Posten, age 71, of Dahlonega passed away following an illness on September 4, 2021.  Mr. Posten was a member of Trinity Full Gospel Church in Cleveland, Georgia, a member of the 101st Airborne, Army Veteran, and retired custodian. He wore many hats throughout his life and told many stories of jobs and careers he had fulfilled. Jumping out of planes was his favorite. Mr. Posten loved watching football and was a Georgia fan after being converted from Georgia Tech through a bet he made with his wife. David was so full of life and loved “cutting up” with everyone. He had a large family whom he loved very much. He will be missed by all.

Mr. Posten is preceded in death by his parents Benjamin R. Posten and Annie Marie Rider Posten, siblings Vickie Ann Bozeman (Robert Breman) and Ruth Posten.

Mr. Posten is survived by his wife Patty Jo Garret Posten; children, Ellie Sandige, Jessica Posten, Aubree Stewart, Paislee Lunsford, Chris Posten, Julie Lunsford, Kera McDaniel, Paul McDaniel, Josh McDaniel, Justin Blackwell; siblings, Johnny (Marsha) Posten, Lester Posten, Robert (Lori) Posten, Marie Hatfield Jones (David) and Randy Posten; numerous other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive.

Family will receive friends on Monday, September 6, 2021 from 6-8 pm at Dahlonega Funeral Home and again on Tuesday from 2 pm-4 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 4 pm in the chapel of Dahlonega Funeral Home.
