Mr. Guy Odom, age 88, of Powder Springs, Georgia, formerly of Dahlonega, Georgia, passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021.
Mr. Odom was born in Dahlonega on March 5, 1933, to the late Talmadge Odom and Blanch Viola Brackett. Guy was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy. He loved gardening, including all of the beautiful flowers, and the birds that would come to visit. One of the things he was most proud of was his blue truck, a beautiful 1992 Chevrolet. His favorite pastimes included watching NASCAR, Supercross, and visiting with his family. For many years he was the owner and operator of Calhoun Supercross.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Willie Mae Odom and siblings Gene Odom, Barney Odom, Fred Odom, JT Odom, Lila Mae Gibson and Louise Gillespe.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Iler Odom, of Powder Springs; children, Karen (Robert) Shiflett of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Chip (Barbara) Odom of Dallas, Georgia; grandchildren Lacey Brown (Jody), Shawna Wesley, and Trevor Odom; great-grandchildren D.J. Wesley, Seth Brown, Shaun Brown, Carmello Wesley, Parks Odom, Finley Odom, and Renner Odom; sister Susie Sims Sumter, South Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Friday, September 10, 2021, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
