Mr. Harold Dean Nichols, 79, of Braselton, passed away August 28, 2021.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in the Chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Reverend Phil Carpenter will officiate. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Saturday, September 4, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
Born on June 23, 1942 in Wilkesboro, NC, he was the son of the late Lundy and Bertha Walsh Nichols. Mr. Nichols was retired with 36 years of service from Macklanburg-Duncan where he was in Sales. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He served in active duty from 1966 – 1967, receiving a Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service upon his release in 1968. Mr. Nichols was a member of Chestnut Mountain Baptist Church, ordained deacon on October 19, 1975 where he served as chairman and other offices before becoming an honorary deacon in 1995. He also served on building committees. Mr. Nichols was a member of the Gainesville Masonic Grand Lodge and Scottish Rite Freemasonry. When he was not spending time with his granddaughters, Faith and Ava he enjoyed antique car shows, LeMans, Racing, reading and wood working. In addition to his parents, Mr. Nichols is preceded in death by his daughter, Julie Nicole Nichols.
Mr. Nichols is survived by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Turk Nichols of Braselton; daughter, Emily Nichols; granddaughters, Faith Vickers, Ava Collins; sister and brother in law, Wilma and Edsel Clate of Moravian Falls, NC and a number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers please make memorial contributions to Eagle Ranch P.O. Box 7200 Chestnut Mountain, GA 30502. Mr. Nichols donated his body to Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, GA.
