Kathryn Sites

Obituary Date: Sunday, August 29, 2021

Kathryn Sites, a matriarch of Spirit-filled living, completed her Godly commission, and was provided her great reward on Sunday, August 29, 2021. As a testament to answered prayer, once her duty was fulfilled, she passed swiftly and peacefully, surrounded by family.

Kathryn was born April 12, 1931 (90) to the late Silas & Maggie Wilson in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was raised in the Church of God, where her Grandfather was a pastor, and this foundation of faith would permeate the rest of her life. She was the final of 6 children, including her 2 brothers (Fred and James) and 3 sisters (Clara, Velma, Lois), to pass on to Glory. She was also preceded to Heaven by her late husband Mike Sites, and former husband Curtis Glasscock.

Kathryn was a true ‘disciple’ of Christ. Throughout her life, she sought out to witness to others about her faith, and mentor through various church ministries. She lived in Memphis, TN for 25 years, where she led Sunday school, marriage mentor groups, and participated in church choir. Upon her move to Gainesville, GA, she continued her church involvement at Free Chapel, where she helped lead weekly prayer groups, lead worship singing for nursing home ministry, participated in food outreach, and was a member of the altar team. Only Christ knows how many hearts were touched through her discipleship efforts.

You could also count yourself lucky to receive one of the many gifts of love through her crocheted blankets. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles, reading, but especially visiting with family. Perhaps her greatest legacy is the lineage of Christian believers she herself continued. Her son and daughter-in-law, Curtis & Marlene Glasscock, and daughter, Kathryn Bailey have carried on this legacy of faith to their children and grandchildren. This is a true testament to the Word in Psalm 103:17 - “But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting, on those who fear Him, and His righteousness to children’s children.”

Memorial services will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday September 7th in “The Chapel” at Free Chapel, 3001 McEver Rd, Gainesville, GA 30504. Those unable to attend are invited to watch the service via Live Stream on Memorial Park South Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
