Stephen Daniel Stancea

Obituary Date: Wednesday, September 1, 2021

Stephan Daniel Stancea was born May 6th, 1935, in a small village outside of Pitesti, Romania. He knew Maria Coman from his childhood as a neighbor and they married in 1953. They went through a very rough period in their life and Jesus reached out to them as their Savior. They responded and gave their lives to Jesus at the same time in 1964. Their lives were radically changed. They had two daughters before their conversion and eight more children afterwards. He truly lived as a devoted servant to our Lord Jesus Christ while loving fully, serving selflessly, and raising 10 children faithfully for God's glory.

Being that he was involved with secretly distributing Bibles, he was caught by the communists in Romania, and they made his life very difficult. Considering this and due to the Lord speaking to him through a dream, he decided to immigrate to America and did so in January of 1980 along with the 8 children that were still minors at the time. They lived in New York, New York for about a year. Due to difficult circumstances they moved to Mobile, Alabama.

They enjoyed the fellowship with the welcoming American community there, but it was very hard to fully integrate. They met some Romanians visiting from Florida and had a longing to be around a strong community of Christian Romanians, they decided to move to Hollywood, FL. There God used Stephan and Maria in the small group gathering that eventually became Elim Romanian Church. Due to work opportunities Stephan moved with his family to Reading, PA. God also used them in the growth and fellowship of the Romanian community residing there. Stephan’s house was a house of worship and he held prayers where fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord came to rejoice in the presence of Jesus Christ.

His work in service to Jesus Christ, his family, and his gainful employment was his utmost focus. After a period of employment with Dana Corporation he retired with plenty of health and strength to enjoy his golden years.

Some of their children and grandchildren resided in Georgia and to be closer they decided to move there. God used them in the growth of hope and faith in others by their testimonies, prayers, and the love they constantly showed for anyone whom they met. Despite language barriers and age gaps they were able to inspire many teens to turn their lives to Christ. While residing in Georgia, his wife of 60 years went to be with the Lord. He faithfully continued his service to the Lord and encouraged others around him whenever he spoke with anyone. Georgia was Stephan's last journey on this earth before being united with our heavenly Father and those who preceded him, his wife (Maria), 3 children (Emanuel, Benjamin, Julie), and two grandchildren (Lawrence, Ronald).

He leaves behind 7 children (Mariana, Mimi, Daniel, Lydia, Christina, Samuel, and Gavril), 32 grandchildren of which he raised two as his own children, and 17 great-grandchildren. We will greatly miss this man of God and the countless prayers, testimonies, wisdom, his voice, his personality, and his love. He was a role model for us on how to commit our lives fully and sacrificially to our Lord Jesus Christ!

Tati,
