Joe M. Terrell, 96, died Aug 30, 2021 of natural causes at Hamilton Place Personal Living Home.

Born in 1924 to Henry Earl and Mary Cooley Terrell, he lived all his days in Gainesville GA as a third generation native. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1942 and later graduated from The University of Alabama as a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity.

Joe married his high school sweetheart, Alley Rochester Terrell, the love of his life. Counting the courtship, as Joe would say, they were together 71 years and raised 3 sons.

He is pre-deceased by his wife Alley and middle son Benjamin Bowman Terrell.   He is survived by son Michael Alley Terrell of Gainesville; son Joel Scott Terrell, daughter-in-law Christy Roland Terrell of Buford, GA;  granddaughter Haley Terrell Birdsey and husband Christopher Birdsey of Nashville, TN; daughter-in-law Stephanie Krueger Terrell of Gainesville; granddaughter Mary Kate Terrell Hulsey and husband Matthew Hulsey of Gainesville, great-grandsons Mason and Maddox Hulsey; granddaughter Martha Terrell of Gainesville.

Joe enjoyed a long career in the Gainesville poultry industry.  Early on he worked with J.D Jewell Poultry and Pillsbury.  He retired from Fieldale Farms after many productive years.

Joe always longed to be a published cartoonist and worked on his drawing and painting skills in retirement.  He and wife Alley enjoyed early mornings and late afternoons cruising Lake Lanier on their pontoon boat.  Joe was the consummate volunteer worker.  He served his community with distinction helping the Northeast Georgia Medical Center Auxiliary, Elachee Nature Center, and Good News Clinics.

He was a longtime member of Gainesville First United Methodist Church and served his Lord well.
