Curtis Giles transitioned on August 30, 2021. He was born to the late Erastus and Jeanette Giles.
He was a proud 1976 graduate of Monroe Area High School. He later attended Fort Valley State University and later left to serve in the United States Army. He served proudly from 1976-1979. After leaving the Army, he began working at Universal Rundle, LLC. He started his entrepreneurial journey where he owned both a pressure washing and lawn care company. He also refereed for youth sports.
He was a member of the Appalachee Shoals Missionary Baptist Church where he served in the men choir and as a Deacon.
Curtis met the love of his life, Hazel, and they married August 1, 2015.
Outside of family time, he loved to camp, travel and watching his favorite team “Alabama” ROLL TIDE!
He is preceded in death by his mother Jeanette Giles, father Erastus Giles, and sister Dorothy Giles.
Curtis leaves to cherish his wife Hazel Giles, eight step-children: Shannon (Carlton) Dabney- Smith, William Donice Dabney Jr., Sheryl (Tim) Hester, Vera Colbreath, Johnny (Anita) Brown Jr., Thomas (Evon) Brown, Gary (Shondra) Brown and Alex (Alisa) Brown; thirty four grandchildren: Jamal Dabney, Jashad Dabney, Kennedie Dabney, Caleb Dabney, Dominique Dabney, William-Paul Dabney, Anthony, Joshua, Lil Wayne, Johnny “J.C. “, Johnny “J.B.”, Alexis, Dewanta, Johnneshia, Alicia, Aliera, Thomas, Alex, Trail, Thomas,!Kendra, Lil Gary, Tatianna, JorShun, Nicholas, Briana, Alyric, Beyoncé, Alex, Avant, Ambrose, Alex Jr., Aalyiah, Ambernika, Alexia; two sisters: Denise Giles of Athens, GA, Clara Giles of Monroe, GA; three brothers: Johnny Paul Giles(Berletta) of Monroe, GA, Charles Giles (Vera) of Athens, GA, Anthony Giles of Loganville, GA and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Appalachee Shoals Baptist Church at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 between the hours of 4:00 PM- 8:00 PM at Wimberly Funeral Home. Professional Services Entrusted to Wimberly Funeral Home.
