George William Powers

Mr. George William Powers, age 68 of Memorial Drive, Eastanollee passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Stephens County Hospital.

A son of the late Edwin Lamar Powers and Jewel Fulbright Powers, he was born January 5, 1953 in Stephens County, Georgia where he lived all his life.  He was in the last graduating class of Toccoa High School, Class of 1970.  He was employed with Patterson Pump for a number of years and was a member of Liberty Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Ann Smith Powers of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Lance Cannon of Rabun Gap, Georgia; grandchildren, Hanna and Hayden Cannon; brother and sister-in-law, Eddie and Terri Powers of Eastanollee; nephews and nieces, Jeremy and Tonya Powers, Michael and Stephanie Powers, Blake and Kristina Powers, Ben and Shelby Bridges and Catherine Bridges.

Funeral services will be Thursday, September 2, 2021, 2 O’clock p.m. in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Stacy Penland officiating.  The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers, Michael Powers, Jeremy Powers, Blake Powers, Ben Bridges, Lance Cannon and Hayden Cannon.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.  Online condolences may be left for the family at www.acree-davisfh.com.

Due to the health and well-being of our community, masks are encouraged during the visitation and service.

Interment will follow in the Stephens Memorial Gardens with the Acree-Davis Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements for Mr. George William Powers.
