Patricia "Pat" Edwards Wilkes

Obituary Date: Wednesday, August 25, 2021

Patricia “Pat” Edwards Wilkes, age 61 of Demorest, went to glory on Wednesday, August 25, 2021. 

Born in Milledgeville, Georgia on May 12, 1960, she was the daughter of the late Howard Alton and Mary Louiza Batchelor Edwards. Mrs. Wilkes loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.  She was a graduate of Baldwin High School, Bob Jones University, and Georgia State University where she received her Master’s in Education. She was an educator with several schools in South Georgia and most recently with Habersham County School System.   Her career spanned 30 plus years of service dedicated to imparting her knowledge to the multitude of students that she taught.  Mrs. Wilkes was a valued member of her church family at Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church.  In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, canning, singing and her chickens. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Timothy Wayne Mason. 

Surviving are her husband, Darren Wilkes of Demorest; daughters and sons-in-law, Polly “Acie” Serpa (Dusty) of Nicholson and Sara Lee (David) of Cornelia; children by choice, Noah Clay Wilkes (Ashley), Philip John Wilkes (Chelsea) of Mt. Airy and Makaela Roberts (Joey) of Tallulah Falls; grandchildren, Gunner, Carter, Ryker, Justin, Lawson, Kin and Hunter. 

Funeral services are scheduled for 2 pm, Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Bethel Temple Congregational Holiness Church with Rev. Edward Hood and Rev. David Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Geoffrey Dillard officiating. Funeral services will be live-streamed from the Facebook page of McGahee-Griffin and Stewart Funeral Home for those not able to attend.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm on Saturday at the funeral home. 

Those in attendance are asked to please adhere to the public health and social distancing guidelines regarding COVID-19.
