Lairee Sanford Smith Herbert

Mrs. Lairee Sanford Smith Herbert, age 92 of Toccoa passed away Friday, August 20, 2021 at the Hartwell Health and Rehab. 

A daughter of the late Dennard and Lizzie Winn Smith, she was born January 14, 1929 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived most of her life in Stephens County. She was employed with Wal-Mart as a greeter since 1994 and was a member of Highpoint Community Worship Center.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Weldon “Bill” Herbert in 1983.

Survivors include three nieces, Betty Dodd of Mt. Airy, Georgia, Frances Segars of Hartwell, Georgia and Ruth Barnes of New Mexico; many great-nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be Saturday, September 4, 2021, 3 O’clock p.m. at Highpoint Community Worship Center with Pastor Warren Lewis officiating. 

The family had a private burial at Stephens Memorial Gardens on Monday, August 23, 2021.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Donna Frady, 158 Petty John Lane, Mt. Airy, Georgia 30563 or to the charity of one’s choice.
