Ret. Staff Sergeant Robert Thomas McDowell

Ret. Staff Sergeant Robert Thomas McDowell, age 75, of Buford, GA passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021.  He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Gloria Sun Ho McDowell, Buford, GA; children, Patricia Lee, Buford, GA, Angela McDowell, Robert Jason McDowell; 5 grandchildren.  Mr. McDowell was born in Lexington, KY, on January 15, 1946.  He was retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service.  He was a member of Shadowbrook Baptist Church, Suwanee, GA.  Mr. McDowell received the following medals while in Service:  Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with Numeral 1, National Defense Service Medal, and NCO Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 2, Vietnam Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and Purple Heart Army Commendation Medal/Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star Medal Overseas Service Bars 6 and Good Conduct.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 28, 2021 in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home, Buford, GA with Rev. Jerrod Rumley, from Shadowbrook Baptist Church officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday before the Service.
