Mrs. Bertha Mae Sanford, age 79, of Dahlonega passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2021.
Bertha was born on May 12, 1942, to the late David and Bessie Bowen Peck. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings John Peck, Elmer Peck, Norman Peck, Donald Peck, Leoma Evans, and Eva Peck. Bertha worked at Gold City Health and Rehab Nursing Home. She was also an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She was deeply loved by her grandchildren, some of whom called her “Nana Bert” and others called her “Gee Gee”.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law Tina Roper (Tommy); son Tank Sanford (Ravan Lingerfelt); son and daughter-in-law Todd Sanford (Jessica), all of Dahlonega; grandchildren Holly Roper (Kevin Davis), Kyle Roper (Alex Davis), Austin Sanford, Emilee Sanford, Bridget Sanford, and Kali Clark; great-grandchildren Walker Grizzle, Mason Grizzle, Amelia Roper, Liam Grizzle, Jack Roper, Isabell Clark, Scott Clark, Jason Clark, McKenzie Budah, Kymber Roper, and Charlee Roper; brother Harold Peck; brother and sister-in-law Roger Peck (Linda); and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral services are scheduled for 6:00 PM Friday, August 20, 2021, at the chapel of Anderson-Underwood Funeral Home. The Rev. Mickey Wheeler and the Rev. Freddie Bryan will officiate. It was Mrs. Sanford’s request to be cremated after the funeral service. The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home.
