Wilma “Cat” Cox, 90, of Dawson County passed away Monday August 16, 2021 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Born May 5, 1931 to the late Butch and Wylene Chastain, she was a lifelong resident of Dawson County. For many years she did housekeeping at Grandview Nursing Home in Jasper where she loved her work family dearly. Wilma loved having lunch at the Dawsonville Pool Room, reading poems, singing at church, and most of all spending time with her family. A member of Goshen Baptist Church, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Quenton Hill and William “Bill” Cox; granddaughter, Gracie Claire Hill; sister, Ermma Swafford; and brothers, Winston Chastain, Jim Chastain, Clint Chastain, and Roy Chastain.
Surviving are her son and daughter in law, Charlie and Beth Hill, Dawsonville; granddaughter, Zoe Hill, Dawsonville; special caregivers, Deborah Padgett, Jeannie Mauldin; numerous nieces, nephews, stepchildren and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Thursday August 19, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Dr. Jeff Burrell and Rev. Andy Wallace will officiate. Interment will follow in the Goshen Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 until 8 at the funeral home.
