James Richard “J.R.” O’Brien, 73, of Dawsonville passed away Wednesday August 11, 2021.
J. R. was born August 31, 1947 in Kokomo, Indiana and had lived in Dawson County for the past 18 years having moved from Alpharetta. He owned and operated Tri-Bond which did concrete repair. A U. S. Coast Guard veteran of the Vietnam era, he was an author, an award winning inventor, and was an avid Atlanta Falcons fan. Mr. O’Brien was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Bill and Trudy O’Brien; father, James Illges; son, James Richard O’Brien, Jr.; a sister, Susan; and a brother, Michael.
Surviving are his wife of 52 Years, Sharon O’Brien, Dawsonville; daughters and son in law, Kimberly O’Brien, Marietta; Kelly and Brian Womack, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Brittany and Henry Anleu, Kyle Munsey, Tyler Womack, Gavin Beres; and sisters, Judi Hartman, Flagstaff, Arizona, and Patti Gruhn, Houston, Texas.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 2 o’clock at the Chestatee Worship Center. Pastor Ricky Stepp will officiate.
