Mr. George Everett Hope, 92, of Gainesville died Thursday, August 12 at home.
Mr. Hope was born February 15, 1929 in Cumming, Georgia. He resided most of his life in Gainesville, Georgia. Mr. Hope was the son of the late George Tilman and Ethel White Hope. He was a leading trainer/driver of harness horses in the Northeastern circuit, and for a number of years owned a toy distribution business.
Mr. Hope was a member of First Baptist Church and the Anglers Sunday School class.
Mr. Hope is preceded in death by his wife Lois Little Hope and sister, Faye Turk.
Mr. Hope is survived by his brother Austin Hope of Port St. Lucie, Florida; his sons, Walter (Sharon) of Gainesville and David ( Royia) of Flowery Branch; and step-daughters, Rosemary Bates ( Jeb) of Gainesville and Cindy Haynes Clark of Hilton Head, South Carolina; grandchildren, Taylor(Wil)Leighton of Alpharetta, Madeline (Kirk) Krilla of Flowery Branch, Parker Hope of Atlanta, Braxton (Tristan) of Monticello, Florida, Catherine (Hans) Sorenson of Monticello, Florida, Jay (Brooke) Bates of Braselton, Georgia, Daniel Bates of Atlanta, Meredith (John) McWhirter of Atlanta, and Nathan Hope of Flowery Branch and 6 great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at Memorial Park North Funeral Home. The family will receive visitors following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church Ministry of Caring and Sharing, 751 Green St. S.W., Gainesvile, GA. in memory of Mr. Hope.
