Sylvia Mae Trusty, age 92, of Clarkesville, passed away on Friday August 13, 2021 after an extended illness, surrounded by her family.
Born in Clarkesville, Georgia on March 5, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Henry Starr Sosebee and Annie Katie Simmons Sosebee. Sylvia was affectionately known by many as Mama, Granny, or Nanny. There wasn’t a person that entered her house that wasn’t offered a good homecooked meal served with a glass of sweet tea and a hug that would make the world right again. She believed in always spreading her love through the food she cooked and never turned anyone away. If you walked into her house and sat down at the dinner table, you were family. With her quick wit, bright smile, and big heart she always made sure to put her family first, but she would tell you exactly what she was thinking in her sassy southern accent and you were going to hear her out no matter what. She loved making memories with the grandkids, whether it be serving them a picnic lunch in a bedsheet fort she built from her freshly laundered linens, allowing them to tear her house apart while playing, drying sopping wet clothes when they decided to run in the rain, or building puzzles while watching T.V. while she took a break. Sylvia retired from Fieldale Farms to stay home and help with her grandchildren. Sylvia enjoyed gardening, cross-stitch, puzzles, cooking, but her true passion was taking care of her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Huey, Carlton, and Boyd Sosebee; sister Martha Allen; son Gary Trusty; son-in-law Jimmie “Bo Bo” Watts and grandchildren Whitney Trusty, Coty Trusty, and Nicholas Vega.
Mrs. Trusty is survived by her children Bill & Pat Trusty of Lula, Gloria Watts of Clarkesville, Ann & Jason Goguen of Clarkesville, and Tammy Vega of the home; grandchildren Anthony & Melinda Trusty , Jason & Jody Trusty, Denise Hogan, Kristy & Tony Hall, Travis Watts, Dawn & Bradley Taylor, Amber & Eric Smith, Jacob & Madison Goguen, and Daniel & Jessica Vega; along with 23 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, several nieces and nephews, and friends who she considered family.
