R. L. Hansard

R. L. Hansard, age 89, 0f Demorest, Georgia, went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 13, 2021.

Mr. Hansard was born on July 31, 1932, to the late Curtis and Maggie Holtzclaw Hansard.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Cora Miller Hansard; son, Danny Hansard;  daughter, Deborah Hansard West;  sisters;  Mardell Tallent and Wynell Williams. He was retired from the Lee Arrendale Correctional Institute with thirty years of loyal and dedicated service.  Mr. Hansard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He  was a member of the Beaver Ruin Baptist Church.

 Survivors include his wife, Patsy Hansard, Demorest, Georgia;  daughter and son-in-law, Diane Charles Kerns, Demorest, Georgia;  step-son, Franklin Whitner, DeLand,  Florida;  sister, Betty Jackson, DeLand, Florida;  seven grandchildren,  thirteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 16, 2021, at the Whitfield Funeral home, North Chapel, with Rev. Connie Berry and Rev. Lamar Hansard officiating.  Interment will follow in the Yonah Memorial Gardens with military rites provided by The Grant-Reeves Combined Honor Guard.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, from 12:00 pm until the funeral hour.
