On Friday, August 13, 2021, Robert Alexius Cashman, loving brother, and uncle, passed away in the peace comfort of his sister Margaret’s home after a brief battle with cancer. Bobby was born on October 3, 1950, in Zanesville, Ohio. He had a strong faith and was deeply rooted in his convictions. Bobby had a passion for astronomy, and we take comfort in knowing that he is now able to gaze at the stars with the one who made them. Bob enjoyed traveling and being outdoors. He had a big heart and was very loving. He will be fondly remembered as quirky “Uncle Bob” who introduced his nieces and nephews to things like telescopes, Star Trek, and bottle-cap tattoos.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Alexius Cashman and Leila Cashman his sister, Martha A. Cashman, and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Anderson. Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Mary and William Ivers, Cincinnati; brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Cindy Cashman, Palm Coast; sister, Margaret Anderson, Cleveland. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Carrie Reeunwijk, William Ivers, Jr., Katie Dries-Ivers, Tom Ivers, John Anderson, Patrick Anderson, Mandy Dobbs, Megan Walden, Michael Anderson, and Liz Wassner, as well as 19 great-nieces and great-nephews. A private remembrance ceremony will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bob’s name to the charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Northeast Georgia Medical Center Hospice for the exceptional and compassionate care they provided in Bob’s last days.
