Linda Ruth Carroll-Smith

Obituary Date: Thursday, August 5, 2021

Linda Ruth Carroll-Smith passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 5, 2021.

Linda graduated high school from Wrightsville High, left the small town of Wrightsville and got her Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Georgia in Spanish. She later decided to further her education and obtain her Masters and 6-year degree in School Counseling from Georgia Southern University. She was a member and past president of Phi Delta Kappa- Education, a member of the Georgia School Counselor Association holding several positions including Vice President, District Chair, and State Conference Coordinator. She was honored to have been awarded the Congressional District Counselor of the Year!  She retired from the Chatham County School System after 30 years of service and dedication. She married the love of her life on June 18th 1983 and together they were known for their superb parties, the great rock and roll concerts they attended, and their combined love of country store advertising items. Linda loved reading her bible, traveling with her husband, finding that hidden antique treasure, taking that impromptu trip with her niece, visiting her family and playing with her great nieces. Linda called Cleveland Georgia home, but also lived most of her adult life in Savannah Georgia. She was a member of White Creek Baptist Church and her favorite songs were Old Time Rock and Roll, Freebird, and Hotel California. Her zest for life translated in everything she did.

She leaves behind, a wonderful loving husband, Mark Smith, a brother, Tom Carroll (Cathy), a nephew, Tommy Carroll (BethAnn), two nieces, Michelle Wilds (Barry), Michelle Arsenault (Tony), four great nephews, Casey Wilds (Ashley), John McClellan, Tony Arsenault Jr, and Wyatt Arsenault, 1 great great nephew AJ Arsenault, and three great great nieces, Abbigail McClellan, Carrie Brooke Wilds, and Rylie Blair Wilds; many friends who loved her too.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marion Howard Carroll and Lavenia Pournell Carroll of Wrightsville.

Linda was an angel here on earth, who enjoyed life to the fullest, loved her family, and most loved her Mark, she loved him the mostest!. Long live the faith she had that she passed down onto all of us. If you were lucky to have met her, then you were lucky enough! Thank you to the staff at Northeast Georgia Medical Center for their dedication to Linda during her final days with us!
