Pastor Olando “VonEric” Mayweather answered the ultimate call of his Heavenly Father on Tuesday evening August 3, 2021. Kickoff: Olando“VonEric” Mayweather entered this world on September 3, 1977 in Athens, Georgia to his loving parents; the late James Clifford Mayweather and Willie Marysue Riley Mayweather. He was welcomed home by his older brother Derek Mayweather who took him under his wings and protected and supported him until the end. VonEric was educated in the Barrow County Public School System where he graduated with the Class of 1996 from Winder Barrow High School. He served as a faithful member of Austin Chapel Baptist Church until he married the love of his life Tiffiany Hodges. VonEric was always willing to help in any way that he could. He never wanted to see anyone being mistreated or excluded. He loved helping others in their lowest times. He would give to others when he knew he didn't have it spare. He was kind, giving, loving, and most importantly, he wanted to make sure everyone else was ok. 1st Quarter: (The Husband) VonEric married his high school sweetheart Tiffiany Nicole Mayweather on November 20, 1998 after 5 years of courtship. He was a devoted husband who always put his wife first and cherished the precious moments that he spent with her. He loved teaching her new tricks in the kitchen and showing off his chef skills. He always made sure she knew she mattered and that he would move mountains for her if he could. He supported her in everything she did. He encouraged her to go to school and become the teacher she has longed to be for years. The two enjoyed family vacations, Sunday dinners, cooking on the grill, watching sports, and family movies. VonEric was intentional about supporting his wife, family, and loved ones. 2nd Quarter: (The Father) VonEric began fatherhood June 14, 1999 when he and his wife welcomed Olandria (Kira) Na’Kira Mayweather. He cherished all the precious memories of feeding her, rocking her, and holding her in the NICU for the first time. She was his miracle baby girl and he adored her dearly. Together they enjoyed attending her high school basketball games and him cheering along with the squad. He made sure everyone knew that she belonged to him. In 2003, he became a father to Olando (Lando) VonEric Mayweather II, his first son, his namesake, his everything. He was overjoyed to have a son to teach him everything he knew and to have someone to walk and follow in his footsteps. Olando (Lando) enjoyed having his dad on the field, coaching him up, and always being there to encourage him to be his best. Last but certainly not least, he welcomed Olandon (Landon) TyVon Mayweather in 2009. He had a special place in his dad’s heart and was adored because he knew Landon would be the last of the Mayweather clan. Together the two of them enjoyed time together playing in Landon’s room. They had their special time, which always ended with some type of catastrophe. His children were his world and he circled them daily with love. 3rd Quarter: (The Pastor) VonEric entered the ministry on October 16, 1997 under the leadership of Rev L.C. Teasley Sr. at the New Life Missionary Baptist church where he also served in the music department. He was then called to pastor his first church at Fairfield Baptist Church in Statham, GA. Pastor VonEric Mayweather was later anointed and appointed by His brother Bishop Derek L. Mayweather to plant - City of Hope North Ministries, where he pastored until his Heavenly transition, under the leadership of his brother Bishop Derek L. Mayweather. Pastor Mayweather was extremely passionate about preaching and teaching the word of God. Pastor Mayweather intimately pursued God. Worshipping and praying to God was always his premier motivation. Pastor Mayweather was always seeking and desiring to please God as a student of the Gospel. He was always emotionally and spiritually expressive in regard to his love of God and his humble respect to the call that was on his life. Never was he afraid to shed tears to let others know how good God had been to him and all the blessings he had bestowed upon him and his family. Pastor VonEric Mayweather took pride in being the leader of his flock and he will be missed by his congregation. 4th Quarter: (The Coach) VonEric’s love for sports began at a very young age. He enjoyed playing baseball, basketball, football, and track. His love for sports continued and paved the way for his future. He received a full scholarship to Georgia Southern for football. As time progressed, he continued his love for sports, but this time as a coach. Coach Mayweather coached for Gainesville Parks and Recreation for fourteen years. He was a coach on and off the field. He loved each player and held a special place in his heart for each of them. He was the best coach at the annual family basketball games. Final Play: VonEric is preceded in death by his father Deacon Clifford Mayweather, his paternal grandparents Johnny (Odessa) Mayweather, Marvin Thrasher, Mary Louise (George) Riley, Ruby (Billy) Russell, Johnny Lee (Patricia) Mayweather, Willie Lee (Betty Joe) Mayweather, as well as George Riley. VonEric leaves his precious memories to be carried on by his loving family: his loyal and devoted wife, First Lady Tiffiany Mayweather, his wonderful children Olandria, Olando, and Olandon; a cherished mother, Deaconess Willie Marysue Riley Mayweather, one caring brother Derek (Lateonia)Mayweather, his nephew Derek Mayweather, II and niece Cerrigan Mayweather, a loving grandmother Bertha Johnson, Aunt Reba Riley, Special Cousins Raymond (Deloris) Riley, Aneetra (Thalmus) Mc Dowell, Ebony Riley; Father-in-law, Rev. L.C. (Kathy) Teasley Sr., and Father-in-law Reggie (Denise) Hodges. A host of sister and brother-in-laws as well as Uncles, Aunts, Nieces and Nephews. He also leaves to cherish his two wonderful Godchildren Jaquaveon Harris and SaMaira Almond, a special friend Eric Almond, and a host of family members, his City of Hope North Church Family, and dear friends.
Service of Remembrance and visitation will be held Friday August 13th at New Life Missionary Baptist Church in Gainesville between the hours of 6:30-8:00pm. Pastor Mayweather's Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday August 14th at 11:00am at Austin Chapel Baptist Church Winder.
