Betty Lou Payne Powell

Mrs. Betty Lou Payne Powell, age 79 of Dortch Road, Eastanollee passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at the St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia.

A daughter of the late Hubert Payne and Bessie Mae Pilgrim Kesler, she was born October 29, 1941 in Franklin County, Georgia having lived most of her life in Stephens County.  She was employed with Bibb Company for long number of years and was of the Baptist faith.  She loved gardening and building bird houses with her brother.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Melvin Payne and Emerson Payne. 

Survivors include her husband, Edward L. Powell of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Jeff Whitlock of Clarkesville, Georgia; step-daughter, Lynn Badura of Buford, Georgia; grandchildren, Courtney Whitlock, Jerica Whitlock and Jeff Whitlock, IV; step-grandson, Luke Badura; two great-grandchildren; brother, Roddy Payne of Jacksonville, Florida.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 7, 2021, 12:00 noon in the Hillcrest Chapel of the Acree-Davis Funeral Home with The Reverend Ralph Goss officiating.

The family will receive friends at the Acree-Davis Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service time.
