Emma Geneva Hutchens Tutman

Mrs. Emma Geneva Hutchens Tutman was born on February 25, 1923 in Maysville, GA to the late Joseph Law and the late Ina Burns Law. She departed this life on July 29, 2021. She was preceded in death by her children, Emma Jo Hutchens Clark and George Hutchens; husbands, George Oscar Hutchens and James Tutman; brother, Ollie Law; sisters, Julia Law Gatlin, Alice Faye Law, and Bernice Law Thurmond. Her sister Honor Raye Law Hall died days after she passed.

Mrs. Tutman resided in Detroit, Michigan for several years before returning to Gainesville in 2009. Prior to returning to Gainesville, she was a member of Messiah Baptist Church in Detroit where she served on the Mother's Board. After returning to Gainesville, she became a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church-Summit Street.

She leaves to cherish her memories to her grandchildren, Petula Clark Howard and Diane Hutchens, both of Gainesville, GA and Adrienne Hutchens Smith of Flowery Branch; brother, Edward Law of Gainesville, GA; sisters, Betty Law Owens of Gainesville, GA and Dorothy Law Durant of Philadelphia, PA; special niece, Marlita Gail Law of Gainesville, GA; daughter-in-law, Linda Hutchens of Gainesville, GA; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday August 5, 2021 at 1pm at Dexter T. Sims Mortuary, LLC in The Rev. Charlie, Jr. and Conchita Sims Memorial Chapel. Viewing will be held Wednesday August 4, 2021 from 2pm-7pm. Due to the adherence of the CDC Guidelines and Protocol, masks, as well as social distancing, are required.
