Qualyn Deshunte Tanner, affectionately known as “Quay”, was born on March 19, 2000 in Gainesville, GA to LaShan Tanner and Mary Hollis. He was called home to be with the Lord on July 17, 2021. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Fannie Tanner.
At a young age, he was baptized and became a member of Skipperville United Methodist Church.
He attended West Hall High School. He loved playing football and swimming. Furthermore,
he had a passion for cooking and eating. Qualyn was a happy young man who loved his family and
friends. He was always thoughtful and willing to help anyone he could. He was cheerful and his infectious
smile touched the lives of many.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his bonus mother, Shanna Tanner; three sisters, Angel
Mejia, Brittany Mejia, and Genesis Tanner; brother, Douglas Mejia; aunts, Queenie Tanner,
Brandy Tanner, and Teresa Cash; uncles, Patrick Watkins and Billy Hollis; grandparents, Jerry
Bell, Richard Bell, Sue “Nana” Adair, and John “Big Papa” Hunter; 4 nephews; 2 nieces; and a host
of other relatives and friends.
Memorial service will be held Saturday July 31, 2021 at 2 pm at Dexter T. Sims Mortuary, LLC in The Rev. Charlie Jr. and Conchita Sims Memorial Chapel. Masks and social distancing are required.
