Joan Marjorie Livingstone Sands

Joan Marjorie Livingstone Sands, of Maysville GA passed away on July 23, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Memorial Park South Chapel. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 27, 2021 at Memorial Park South Funeral Home.

Joan was born on March 24, 1934 to Alton and Margaret Livingstone. She was married to the love of her life, John Carmichael Sands, Sr. for 40 years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law Gregory M. Fontana, parents, and 3 siblings. She was a devoted and selfless mother to John C. (Toni) Sands Jr. and Jill Marie Fontana, a compassionate and generous grandmother to Brooke F. (Brandon) Amos, Ryan C. Fontana, Vic L. Fontana, Sahvana G. Sands, and Jordyn F. Sands, the GREAT-est of grandmothers to Addilena R. Fontana, Brinley P. Amos, Gia M. Fontana, and Bowen G. Amos, and a caring sister to Donald (Helga) Livingstone.  Her profound loss not only impacts her immediate family but also many nieces and nephews, a very, very special person Sherri Marini, and the community who knew and loved her. 

Joan was of Catholic faith, attending St. Catherine Labouré in Jefferson. She had an amazing grief group with whom she spent monthly fellowship and birthday celebrations for 15 years, along with a trip to Ireland. She was dedicated and passionate about her volunteer services with Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center where her legacy will live on through the relationships she built.
