David Wilson

David Wilson, 71, of Dawsonville passed away Saturday July 24, 2021 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center following a sudden illness.

Born August 24, 1949 to the late Garvis and Glenda Wilson, David had been a resident of Dawsonville for most of his life.  He graduated from Sequoya High School in 1968 and worked for the next nine years at Matthews Printing Company.  David served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam and following his military service, he married his beloved wife Cathy and went to work for the U.S. Postal Service where he served for over 40 years until his retirement.  Affectionately known as “Yogi”, David was an avid sports fan and member of Liberty Baptist Church in Dawsonville.  Following retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his family.  David was also preceded in death by a son, Matthew Lee Wilson.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Cathy Wilson of Dawsonville; son, Michael Wilson of Dawsonville; grandson, Cale Wilson; brothers in law and sisters in law, David and Regina Disharoon of Gainesville, Danny and Eulene Disharoon of Dawsonville, Gary and Nancy Disharoon of Dawsonville. 

The family will receive friends at Bearden Funeral Home on Wednesday July 28, 2021 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
