Margaret Jean “Peggy” Huff Houston

Margaret Jean “Peggy” Huff Houston, age 86, of Gainesville, GA, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Gardens of Gainesville Assisted Living.

Mrs. Houston was born February 18, 1935 in Gettysburg, PA.  She was the daughter of the late Edgar Stahl Huff and Dorothy Blanche (Zercher) Huff.  Mrs. Houston was a kindergarten teacher & director at Church of the Good Shepherd in Anniston, AL for many years.  She was a member of and retired from the North Alabama Presbytery after serving alongside her husband as caretakers of Camp Maranatha in Scottsboro, AL for 20 years. They lived in the Crossville, TN area for 13 years prior to moving to Gainesville in 2010.

Mrs. Houston was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Donald Reid Houston.  She is survived by her sister, Mary Ann Mancini of Cranston, RI; three children, Donna Houston of Anniston, AL, Rhonda (John) Thompson of Gainesville, GA, and Donald “Doc” Houston of Huntsville, AL; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.  Her brothers, Ed and Harry Huff preceded her in death.

A celebration of life service is scheduled for Sunday, August 1, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the Sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Gainesville. Rev. Jeremy Shoulta and Rev. Bruce Fields will officiate.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to either First Baptist Church Music Ministry, 751 Green Street, Gainesville, GA  30501 or Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, 2150 Limestone Pkwy #222, Gainesville, GA 30501.
