Esta M. Perry Stargel

Obituary Date: Wednesday, July 21, 2021

Esta Mae Perry Stargel of Flowery Branch, Georgia passed away on July 21, 2021 at home with her family following an extended illness.  She celebrated her 90th birthday on July 15.

Mrs. Stargel was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Stargel; her parents Calvin and Nellie Perry; her brothers Monroe Perry; Homer Perry; L.C. Perry, Jr.; William A. Perry and Eugene Perry; and her sisters Annie Perry Strickland; Emma Perry Grant; and Ola Perry Brookshire.

She is survived by her loving daughters Patricia Tate, Robin Stargel Young (Gary) and Revonda Stargel Rich (Don), as well as loved grandchildren, Amanda Young Gray (Josh), Blake Young (Katie), Chris Young (Jennifer), Michael Rich and Sydney Rich.  In addition, she leaves precious great-granddaughters, Avery Gray, Blakeley Young and Adeley Young.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.  She loved them all, but had a special place in her heart for her nephews Charles, Raymond (now deceased) and Bradley Bryson, sons of her sister Annie who died far too young.

Esta was a wonderful wife, sister, mother, and grandmother, who loved nothing more than cooking a huge meal for her family and friends.  Her cooking was renowned to all of who had the good fortune to enjoy her fabulous fried chicken, creamed corn, fried okra and scrumptious chocolate cake and banana pudding.  She loved sitting in the sun with a tall glass of iced tea, and she always had a mischievous sense of humor and great sense of fun.  She was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan, winning or losing.

Esta cherished many years of working for the Doveton family at the Millner’s and Estes clothing stores in Gainesville.  She had a talent for designing window and interior displays and enjoyed lasting friendships with her coworkers and customers.

The family is grateful to CapStone Hospice and Rita Singleton RN for dedicated attention during Esta’s final illness.  The family is especially grateful to caregivers Beverly DeFevers and Susan Coley, who provided assistance and comfort to Esta and her family.

Graveside services will be held Saturday July 24, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. at the Alta Vista Cemetery.  Rev. John Kinsey will officiate.  The family will receive friends at Little & Davenport Funeral Home Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
