James Stephen Banks, 58, of Boynton Beach, FL, died Tuesday, July 13, 2021. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 12 PM at Friendship Community Baptist Church, Buford. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friendship Community Baptist Church (3784 Friendship Rd., Buford, GA 30519) in honor of James. James was preceded in death by his brother, Daniel Banks. He is survived by his wife, Maria; children, Chris Banks (Jo) of Grove City, OH, Greg Banks (Leah) of Dublin, OH, Stephen Banks of Fairfax, OH, Abigail Banks of Boynton Beach, FL; step son, Giovani Parra of Boynton Beach, FL; grandchildren, Carson Banks and Olivia Banks, both of Grove City, OH; father and mother, Charles and Doris Taylor Banks of Buford, GA; sister, Laurie Thomas (Jamey) of Buford, GA; brothers, Ed Banks (Kim) of Flowery Branch, GA, Jeff Banks (Andrea) of Dawsonville, GA. James was born in Buford, GA and spent his life in service to our country. James served in the United States Air Force and Ohio National Guard for 36 years, retiring as Chief Master Sergeant with the Ohio National Guard.
